The Model 7166 consists of ten 2-pole, mercurywetted,
reed relays and comes configured as a
1×10 multiplex scanner. That is, any or all of the
ten (2-pole) input channels can be routed to the
output. The relay card can be configured for use
as a ten-channel switching card by removing
jumpers installed on the card. In this configuration,
up to ten independent inputs can be individually
controlled and switched to a corresponding
isolated output.
The use of mercury-wetted relays provides for
reliable switch contacts under a wide variety of
operating conditions. Mercury-wetted relays also
help assure bounce-free actuation and more
consistent contact resistance over the life of the
relay.
